Fugue and Your Privacy
Why does Fugue ask for my Zip Code, Gender, and Birth Year?
Chances are, you are accustomed to seeing ads in many apps you use every day. Why not make them more relevant to you, while still protecting your identity and privacy? Fugue will use the three pieces of demographic information you provide at registration — age, gender, and zip code — to personalize advertising that makes the most sense for you. This is just one way we seek to put the control, wherever possible, back in your hands.
In order to ensure that you are seeing ads that mean something to you, Fugue may pass anonymized age, gender or zip code information to our ad-serving partners so they can personalize the ads you see. Our advertisers never know who they are serving such ads to – just that it is an anonymous person of a particular age, gender, and/or location.
You may also notice that Fugue also goes a step further by matching the ads you see to your unique situation. This means that ads can go from something you may ignore or just put up with, to something that might be useful to you, help you find a necessary service, product or peace of mind when you need it most.
What does Fugue do with my information?
You will see that the only personal information Fugue asks for is your email address. This is used solely for the purposes of helping you to reset your password or to receive technical updates.
Fugue may send you notices of new features and future versions of the app, but we will never use your email address to send unsolicited messages, or sell your personal information for marketing purposes.
Ultimately, we want Fugue to be a tool you use every day with confidence and security. Whether you are forgetting certain music temporarily because your heart is broken, to discover what else is out there, or simply because your in-laws are visiting, how you use Fugue is up to you. Shouldn’t the same be true for the ads you see and the information you share?
